BMW M1
BMW M1 is a sports car produced by the German
automaker BMW from 1978 to 1981. as the BMW M1. When it's only mid-engined BMW to be mass produced. It employs a twin-cam M88 / 1 3.5 L 6-cylinder petrol
engine with mechanical fuel injection Kugelfischer.
A version of this motor was
later used in the South African version of the BMW 745i, the 209 examples were built between 1984
and 1986, as well as the BMW E24 and BMW M5 E28 M6/M635CSi. The engine had six separate throttle body, four valves
per cylinder and produces
277 PS (204 kW; 273 hp) in the street version, giving a top speed
of 260 km / h (160 mph). Turbocharged racing versions were capable of
producing about 850 hp (634 kW).
Built by the division of the
world famous 'M' from BMW, the BMW M1 was built as a homologation
purposes to enable the car
to compete in official racing events.
The body was designed by Giugiaro M1 and the chassis was tuned by Lamborghini. Only 456 examples of the BMW M1 were produced. Fit and Finland from the M1 was exemplary and exceptional handling, but the car did not prove to be a great success on the race track.
